The tracker is down?

Tue Apr 04, 2006 6:01 pm
Hi.

I have a problem and I have tried to search the forums for the solution but I can't find any solution...so here comes my post :)

I'm using Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 and I have a problem wich occurs from time to time. I download almost all my torrents from a big tracker, and in Windows it worked fine. But since I started using Linux and ktorrent this happens alot:

Error
[Torrents name] has been stopped by the following error:
The tracker [trackers name] is down.

But it isn't down! :x And if a wait a moment and press Start all it sometimes start downloading again. And somtimes it just keeps saying the same error-message over and over again.
I have checked the trackers FAQ and looked up wich port to use, but it doesn't matter. As i said before, this didn't occur in Windows.

Does anyone have a solution? Would be really greatful.

Some trackers are heavy loaded, and then if you announce the host is 404. If this is the problem it's not a KTorrent issue.

It could also be that your internet connections doesn't work properly, be it your internal configuration or your ISP. Can you surf without these problems?

Does the problem remains when you do a right-click on the torrent with "manual announce"?

You're from Sweden, maybe you are talking about tracker.prq.to (thepiratebay.org)???

You are using an old version, if you use 1.2, KT will keep trying the tracker.
