Ktorrent@createtorrent

Fri Apr 21, 2006 9:16 pm
I just created a torrent using a program that runs off of the command line called ........createtorrent .......now I have tried to upload it to the site I go to by itself and all I kept getting was that it doesnt except external torrents .... now I figured it was because its not being ran through a torrent loader ......

I would like to find out how to run it through Ktorrent so I can upload my torrent to there site ..... any suggestions

Might be a silly question, but i have to ask it:
Have you re-downloaded the torrentfile from the site after you uploaded it?
Have you put a external tracker url in the torrent and are there rules against that on the site?

No its not a silly question ....... yes I downloaded it after I got it off the site .... I normally do this with AZ but I am tired of running java ..... now the thing is , I have only used the url that I normally use to upload to that site ..... infact to be honest with you I have never heard of anything being called a external torrent before I tried this ..... I am not all knowing .... so maybe this is something I am expected to know at this point in time but I dont know it .....

now this is what the directions are for that program I used to make that torrent ...

createtorrent [OPTIONS] -a announce inputfile/directory output

This will create a bittorrent file from the given inputfile or the files of the given directory with the announce url announce:6881/announce. The output is written to the file output. The following additional options exist:
--announce -a announceurl sets the announce url
--port -p port sets the port of the tracker, default: 6881
--path -t path sets the path on the server, default: /announce
--piecelength -l piecelen sets the piece length in bytes, default: 262144
--comment -c comment adds an optional comment to the torrent file
--version -v version of createtorrent
--help -h this help screen

Now this is just a example of how I made it

createtorrent -a http://imanoob.com/announce.php death.rar ~ death.torrent

thats how I made it ..... I dont know if that will be of any help ... maybe that might help show if I made it incorrect for what I am trying to do

I've never used this tool to make a torrent, but it might be that the URL doesn't match exactly with the tracker configuration and that it gives you this not very complete error.

This tool might add the announce.php automaticly though.
What about when you do:
createtorrent -a url -t ./ death.rar ~/death.torrent
So that the announce.php isn't in the command.

Does this make any difference?

well if I put that command in the line ............-t ......... wont i have to put a announce number instead of its default (6881) ...... you have a good idea though I am gonna have to try it but I just want to make sure that thats what needs to happen .... I know that there tracker doesnt take the path 6880 or something .... im checking again to make sure but i dont know if that will help out with your ideas on what might be wrong

It doesn't seem to recurse into subdirectories. But what has this got to do with KT ?

Yeah, better to ask help on ubuntuforums for this i think. I haven't got this tool here to test it out too, so it would stay guessing.
