Hi,

I've been using Ktorrent on Suse 10 64bit for a while. Today it started closing it self every time I start it up! I have got the latest version from the SVC just now so am running 1.3dev but this has not helped. The only torrents I can think I started running in the last few days are Suse 10 and Debian install disks.

Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening or even the best way to to get it running again.

Cheers,

Mike

Yeah, is really strange. It will start for about 5 - 10 secs then closes again, no error or anything. I can't think what I might have changed that might effect Ktorrent. I'm not very competent with Suse so not really sure how to uninstall it properly as I wanted the latest version so it is not installed through Yast.

Open a terminal and run 'ktorrent' from there. Maybe that will give you some sort of error message. If so, post that.

Edit:

Or, if you get an error and want to have a go at solving the problem first, just copy and paste all or parts of the error message into Google. I find that usually leads me to a post/site somewhere with a similar problem and more often than not a solution.

In the interim I had kind of screwed KT moving half finished downloads around and stuff.

Anyway, seem to have it working again. Did an install from the SVN again following the instructinos from here - http://ktorrent.org/index.php?page=faq#q3

After the final command "make install" I got an error telling me to install the GNU MP Library which I did in Yast. I did make install again and all was well. Imported a few downloads and I'm flying.

Thanks for your help, Mike

I don't exactly know what KTorrent does more than symlinking the files, but when they don't match KTorrent should pop a error (it does here...) that the location isn't right and it'll auto delete the torX folder and the torrent is out of GUI.
(maybe a nice future-idea to make a dialog where you can choose to give a new location or delete?)

Anyway it's solved now.
