Hello all,

I have just installed ktorrent 1.1 on my Ubuntu 5.10 box and I have this strange problem:
I can usualy download torrents from trackers in my country with speeds of about 1MB/s and it can go up to about 7MB/s at it's best(using other torrent clients on linux and windows). The problem with ktorrent is that it starts of very promissing.. goes up to 1.5 or 2 MB/s and after some time the speed goes down to about 10KB/s... if I let it bee it mostly stays there... if I stop and start the torrent the same thing hapens all over again.

I wold like to know if there is any way to solve this one without erasing all my kde settings...

It's not so hard i think.
There are two things you should note before deleting ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent

1.) amount already uploaded (if you don't like to seed more than 1:1.xx)
2.) find the location where the torrents are saved.
Note these locations so you can you point to it when importing them in the import plugin.
(i think ktorrent 1.1 did symlinks too, so looking where the files in ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/torX/ point to might be sufficient)
3.) save the x.torrent files somewhere that (and name them accordingly the torrent it was downloading) you found in ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/torX/
4.) delete the ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent folder
5.) restart ktorrent and use the import -plugin with the written down locations of torrent file and data
6.) if it doesn't work you might have to delete the configuration file too, located here: ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc (this might work automaticly when KTorrent starts, i am not sure)

Note the precaution that this is how i would personally try to solve the problem.
It might work for you, but it also might not.

ktorrent 1.2 works now .. but i still heve the speed problem ... i deactivated the firewall but with no results... after a while most of my peers go "Snubbed" and I don't realy understand why...
I have been whatching the log and I get somme "Authentication to xx.xx.xx.xx : failure"....
