2.0beta1 released

Sat May 20, 2006 10:00 am
A little bit later then expected, but 2.0 beta1 is finally out.

Because of the amount of new features and improvements we decided to make it a beta instead of the usual release candidate followed by the final release.

I would like to thank everybody who contributed to this release.

Packages are available on the downloads page :

Kubuntu Dapper

Tue May 30, 2006 5:25 am
For Kubuntu Dapper users:

The breezy Deb file works! Please feel free to use it

For anyone who is having trouble with Apt not wanting overwrite to /usr/share/mimelnk/application/x-bittorrent.desktop

try the command
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg --force-overwrite --install ktorrent_2.0beta1-1_i386.deb

New deb, please?

Fri Jun 30, 2006 2:41 am
Any chance for another deb release with the most recent fixes (SVN) for those of us who don't have development tools installed?

Who prepared the deb? Debian? Kubuntu?
(I, too, had to "force" the ktorrent_2.0beta1-1_i386.deb installation in Kubuntu. Ugly.)

Or, could someone post binaries (i386, K7 ;o) to "install" over existing ones?
(As a torrent? ;o)

Thanks!

George made a svn snapshot here a few days ago:
http://ktorrent.pwsp.net/downloads/svn-snapshots/

Debian packages on svn code is useally not something that happens often. It does happen on RC's or Beta's in end fase though (look at kubuntu.org for example), but svn-snapshots with just sourcecode is generally as sporting as it gets.
But... if i am right the next RC1 binary release is "close". So you might want to wait for this. :)

We're not gonna start with deb's for the weekly snapshots. To much work.. Those who wanna keep up with the SVN version, are more then capable enough to compile it on their own.
