I tried installing the provided deb of version 2.0beta and got this error:

dpkg: error processing ktorrent_2.0beta1-1_i386.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/usr/share/mimelnk/application/x-bittorrent.desktop', which is also in package kdelibs-data

Now I realize this debian package is meant for last version of ubuntu so I tried compiling from source. configure and make went fine but ended up with the same error when trying to install.

You need to use dpkg --force-overwrite, we overwrite the default mimetype file for bittorrent files, so that they have a mimetype icon which is derived from KT's icon.

Thanks for the quick reply. Btw, should I be ok with this 5.10 (breezy) package in dapper? Or should I stick to compiling from source?

Don't know, I'm still running breezy here, haven't tried dapper drake yet. Normally it should work, but I can't confirm this.

Dapper

I compiled, so please don't take my word 100% for this, as I could be wrong, but with the library dependencies etc, you should be fine using the breezy version on Dapper.
