folder to store temporary files?

Mon May 29, 2006 6:48 pm
what is "folder to store temporary files" in preferences?
what are temporary files?
i could not find the answer by search.

does it mean that it will download the file parts as temporary files, and then when download is complete, only then will it copy the completed files into final directory? so that i need 2GB free space for a 1GB file?

i am newbie, sorry.

This is the directory where you want the symlinks to be stored.

These symlinks will point to the location where you've saved the torrent data. The unix system can handle these symlinks transparent with the location they're pointing to.

Don't be sorry for that..

We just keep temporary stuff there the actual data will be saved at the final location.

If you save to a different partition it might be interesting to put that directory on the same partition, this prevents files from being moved between 2 partitions when you deselect a file of a multi file torrent.

This will change with the final 2.0 release, where we plan to handle deselected files differently.
