Looks like a memory leak -

Wed May 31, 2006 1:32 pm
I am running the 2.0 beta on a current Kubuntu 5.10 install. I am monitoring the system with KSysGuard. I have a 2.8Ghz Intel with 1Gb memory and a 160Gb disk. I access the network over a cable connection rated at 1.9Gb down and 280Mb up on a wireless network running from 36 to 54Mb as monitored. The best download I get with KT is in the 30kB range. However, I am I find that KT 2.0 Beta has an apparent memory leak. I find my memory is consummed (recorded as cache by KSysGuard) at about 150K per 5 seconds. Over a few hour period my system locks up and I need to restart to clear it. I have monitored this with nothing else running except base Kubuntu. No Firefox, KMail, etc. running. Does anyone else have memory issues?

Similar here. I also get nigh on 100% cpu usage. both can be cleared by killall ktorrent so it might not be exactly a leak.

Do you have DHT turned on? What plugins do you have loaded?

I'm gonna run it with our memory leak checker, should track down any leaks.

Sorry for the long delay in replying. I was in hospital. I do not have DHT turned on. I have: infowidget, ipfilter, logviewer, partfileimport, scanfolder, scheduler, search, and upnp plugins loaded right now. I'm using KSysGuard to watch memory and it slowly fills up over about 2 hours (1Gb of memory) and then stalls everything in the system.

Memory leak

I did a clean install of Kubuntu 6.06, then a clean install of KTorrent 2.0Beta1, then a did a reload of my torrent files I was looking for. The problem appears to be fixed and it is working very well. Thanks a bunch to you guys for a great application.
