Some torrents stuck at 99.9% ?

Tue Jun 06, 2006 2:20 pm
It seems I have a few torrents that are stuck at 99.9%, they all have several connected peers, with assigned parts, and all are snubbed. They have all been stuck for days. all needed parts exist on all peers.

Its a fairly recent svn release from a few days ago.

Damn, I thought we fixed these things.

If you restart the torrents in question, do they finish ?

I've just tried restarting them (theres 6), as in pressed stop, and start. They've all gone back to snubbed. not a single byte has been downloaded since restarting as far as I can tell.

Its strange that its only some torrents. and some of them were stalled, and eventually finished after a couple days, but these ones still wont.. Its only a few KB left to finish, as its video, I was able to watch them no problem, but this still leaves me with semi broken files.

Is it possible its something with the tracker (point-black.cc)?

The tracker has nothing to do with this.

My guess is that a chunk which is excluded, shouldn't be excluded. And therefore we never start to download that chunk.

Are there chunks downloading with these stalled torrents ?

The last chunk is listed in the chunks tab, with assigned peers, and its partially downloaded (progress 27/8 ), theres just no downloading going on.

edit: 8) smilies are very annoying

Strange, do you see lots of Retransmitting timed out requests in the log ?

No. You should see this message:
Retransmitting timed out requests!

Are there any of those?

Ah, yes, about every few seconds.

gotta love bash: tail -n 50 -f ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log | grep Retransmitting

before I just ran the tail part and scanned for it...

Ah another resurrection...

An interesting thing just happened, I had the datachecker rescan the torrents that were showing up as 99.9% done, and it seems they are all actually finished. All were moved to the upload tab.

Also I rechecked a file that already finished, and it went back to the download tab, saying 99.28%. Odd stuff.

OK, I tried to reproduce the problem by sharing a single file torrent between two instances of KT, in this scenario it doesn't happen.

Is there anything that these torrents have in common ? The chunk which is not downloaded, is in the chunks tab ?

Unfortunately I can't recall. I _think_ the "missing" chunk was in the chunks tab, but its been a while since I "rechecked" them, and they moved over to the seeding tab.
