crash at startup

Wed Aug 23, 2006 4:35 am
Hello there community!

I've been using ktorrent for a few days now. Great client. Everything was fine until I started to download this particular torrent.

ktorrent crashes whenever I start it.

Here are the things that I've done. Please help!

*************

I deleted that torrent and all the related files, the problem persists.

Here goes:

*****************

I deleted ktorrent and reinstalled the rpm. Same thing.

*****************

I then got the source file.

configure - it says I need to install gmp but I already have it installed.
make - last few lines pasted below

You need development packages (header files) for libgmp not just the library. Search for libgmp-dev or headers or something - I don't know which distro are you using...

Hey, I'm just not able to find the dev package man. I have suse 10.1 32-bit. It's not in the DVD, packman and I couldn't find it googling either.

Thanks!

You're probably searching with the wrong package name.

Anybody running SuSE, a bit of a help?

It's only gmp and gmp-devel on Suse.

But I'm not sure it will work anyway. If I remember correctly there was someting wrong with Suses packages, some file missing or whatnot, making compile of KTorrent fail.(I may remember wrongly though).

Thing is, it worked for a few days without any issues. This crash happened all of a sudden. No system modifications as far as I can remember and started when I tried to open this particular torrent file.

These issues are fixed now, we have seen these kind of backtrace before.
