I don't know if it is related.
I can enable DHT, but I do not get any nodes or task, after I upgraded from 2.01 to 2.02

Maybe you haven't connected to any peers supporting DHT so you couldn't collect any nodes yet.

Have you seen a peer supporting DHT in PeerView yet?

Thanks for that. Judging by the above thread it looks like there are some issues with removing the patch that disables DHT.

Does anyone know if the 686 package (downloadable from ktorrent.org) works ok on AMD64?

Thanks,
Alex

I'm sure it won't work but I would suggest you to compile KTorrent from source. It's not hard at all and there are only a few dependencies. Let me know if you need help compiling.

Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. To be honest I am over the whole compile from source stage. I don't believe I should have to compile programs manually to make them work. I've done it many times in the past but just don't have the time to fiddle that much with stuff anymore. Hopefully the DHT disabling patch will get removed in the near future...

Thanks,
Alex

In the meanwhile on cah check the ktorrent packages provided by guru (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/). I haven't tried it yet, but will soon.

With the above referred package, DHT seems to work. At least if gets switched on, although I haven't found dht nodes ("DHT: 0 nodes, 0 tasks").

Be patient to connect to at least one DHT supported client (e.g. BitTorrent) and then you'll quickly expand them.

You can also try to load some popular torrent from a public tracker with lots of peers just to collect some nodes.

BTW, seeing that I seem to have more nodes that other people posting here (around 130), maybe I could post my DHT nodes file so you could all use it?

Thanks for your replies.

Now it works.

I compiled ktorrent-04-11-06 svn snapshot with Suse 10.1

Do not use the original Suse packages, they removed some features because of legal reasons. They did not advertise that clearly.

So suse users better compile from source.

If you want to use the latest stable package, you can find it on Guru's site (see previous posts).

There is also a bug report on Novell's bugzilla (see previous posts) were they state their point about DHT.

Guru http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ seems to be a great resource, since it features 64bit-packages. Up to now I used packman to get un-crippled suse packages (like xine etc.)
