I know this is a very old post, but having just found it and followed these instructions, I'm coming across a very strange issue.

I'm trying to move files between two computers on the local network. I'm using Kubuntu on computer 1 and Fedora on computer 2, both running KTorrent.

If I create a torrent file on computer 1 with KTorrent and seed it, copy the torrent file to computer 2, then try to add computer 1 as a peer on computer 2, it doesn't work. Computer 1 flashes up on the peer list for less than a second then disappears again. The log reads:
Code: Select all
Day Mon DD HH:MM:SS YYYY: Initiating connection to 192.168.0.XX via (TCP)
Day Mon DD HH:MM:SS YYYY: Authentication to 192.168.0.XX: ok
Day Mon DD HH:MM:SS YYYY: starting socketmonitor threads
Day Mon DD HH:MM:SS YYYY: connection closed

I see these messages for every time I try to add computer 1 to the peer list on computer 2.

However, if I add computer 2 to the peer list on computer 1, it starts downloading fine.

If I create a torrent on computer 2 and begin seeding, copy the torrent file to computer 1 and add computer 2 as a peer on computer 1, it works.

If I do the same thing, but instead try to add computer 1 as a peer on computer 2, it fails again.

So no matter what I do, I cannot manually add computer 1 as a peer on computer 2.
