libXext issues

Sat Sep 09, 2006 11:50 pm
Hi,

I've decided to use ktorrent as a bittorrent client since I can see that it has a lot of potential (plus I'm a serious KDE user). I've decided to upgrade it to a package However, I'm having problems with the configure file saying it can't find libXext. However libXext is installed as an ubuntu package in /usr/lib/ (libXext.so.6.4.0 and libXext.so.6). I'm a little confused with the configure file, since i don't know what most of the functions do and what directories the global variables contain. What can I do to compile it flawlessly? BTW, I'm using MEPIS, the deriviative of debian/ubuntu.

Thank you.

I guess that configure needs development packages for that library though I'm not really sure what's that library anyway.

Try finding and installing development package for libXext - search for libXext headers, or -dev or something like that.

OK I managed to fix the libXext error, but now I'm getting this error:

checking for libz... configure: error: not found.
Possibly configure picks up an outdated version installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system.

Check your installation and look into config.log

my config.log (I apologize for the length):

You have to install the development packages for zlib.
