CLI?

Wed Sep 20, 2006 6:41 pm
I saw on the wikipedia comparison of bittorrent clients that Ktorrent supports CLI, command line interface.

But otherwise I can't seem to find a reference to this feature anywhere! I would very much love to use KTorrent on my X-less server box. Is this in any way possible??

Thanks!

~BTW: I really love ktorrent, 2.0.2 is just ace!

PS: without X stuff it isnt possible at the moment to run ktorrent. And since it is a kde software maybe never will be (ok, on windows and mac os :D ).

Would it be feasible to adopt aMule's remote GUI style? A basic daemon handling the actual work and then a seperate GUI?

I haven't looked at the code, but its QT based so that makes things easier to seperate.

Ever tried to compile qt or kdelibs without X stuff? And I dont think they will remove the qt socket stuff.
And if you have X, but not running....I dont think they will seperate gui and download stuff in the near future. We have mldonkey and all the ncurse based clients that do their work very well. If you cannot life without ktorrent: have you tried to use remote session...freenx or something like that.

I think I have little choise then. I was perfectly happy with rtorrent until everyone decided to encrypt the packets and made rtorrent obsolete.

Then you will be happy to know rtorrent svn has support for encryption, build from svn head and you will be off and running.
