I did a very stupid thing - is there any chance of recovery?

hello forum-dwellers,
I've been using Ktorrent as my BT client for months now, basically ever since I found out about it - and it's been great, I love having a native QT BT client.
however, mere minutes ago I did a very foolish thing.
in the bottom torrent information panel, under the 'files' tab, you are given the option to check/uncheck which files you wish to download. that's also great, I've been using it to download five episodes of a TV series at a time from a full series torrent.
but. after I had downloadded twenty of the twentysix episodes, I thought to myself "why am I leaving these checked, I don't need to download these files" and unticked the boxes for the twenty episodes I had already downloaded.
it turns out this was a very bad move.
without prompting, Ktorrent deleted all the episodes I had already downloaded.
I now recognise this was not a particularly bright thing for me to do, but in my defense I had no idea it would -delete- files already on the hard drive...
is there any way to get the episodes back? I'm running an ext3 fs at the moment, so maybe I can look at some kind of data recovery...
any help forum inhabitants could give would be greatly appreciated, I realise this is entirely my own fault, but I really hope I can somehow restore this lost data...

Dont know if it possible that you recover something, but which version do you use? It should be fixed since a while.

Yep, you should get prompted for it in 2.0.2.

Dunno about the recovery, i haven't done this on linux (yet). The repo (ubuntu) says there's a tool recover, but it states to be stricly ext2-only ( http://users.linuxbox.com/~recover )

If you're using any filesystem other than ext2 or FAT32, then sorry, the data is gone for good :(

*sigh* aww, that is a little depressing. I wasn't prompted for it and I'm using 2.02, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
I can't see a situation where a user would want to delete already-downloaded files in that manner.
perhaps ticking or unticking the box could decide whether or not Ktorrent 'ignores' the files?
but thank you all for your suggestions anyway, I've learned an important lesson.

It will only prompt you if you unmark the box directly, if you rightclick the file and choose for Do not download there's no popup dialog.

I hope that's why you didn't got prompted for it.

That dialog is not in 2.0.2.
