sorry as i said i'm just getting into this stuff. how do i know what packages i have specifically. i used the package amanager but there are many Qt3 dev's. some i have and some i don't. also i have never compiled a package before or even the architecture of mepis. but i'll do some catching up unless you know of a website for me to check out.

Mepis is Debian based right? If so, you can use apt-get to install packages and maybe you can install some graphical manager like Synaptic so you can search easier. Google around apt-get and synaptic for more help these toys are very well explained.

i have installed today the lastest 2.1beta1. Subjective the speed is slower than with the previous SVN bulid i had. But the routerproblem is still here. It runs about 30min to 20hr, than the connection gets very unstable.

DHT: off, Connections: 180per torrent 800all (in azereus i have the same values). I use an external DNS (from my ISP) and not the proxy of my Router.

but somehow i like ktorrent anyhow .) (much more then the bloated azereus). Maybe i get my hands on an linksys WRT-L router... i heard they are more stable...

i have synaptic package manager on my PC not but when i search ktorent i only get 2.0.3 not 2.1. also have searched the web for a ktorrent2.1 deb file with no luck. but as i was saying before i can find and install from the package manager no prob but i don't know what to install regarding - Qt3 dev package & - KDE dev.
sorry i wish i knew more about this right now. i'm into computers but i don't have the language of linux down yet. i need to read a mepis for dummies book and then get into tweaking. nut it's so dam annoying watching your DL take days as the DL rate bounces from 0k to 10k.

any idea where i could get 2.1beta.deb?

Quick instructions:

# cd ~
# mkdir temp
# cd temp
# wget http://ktorrent.org/downloads/2.1beta1/ ... ta1.tar.gz
# tar -xzf ktorrent-2.1beta1.tar.gz
# cd ktorrent-2.1beta1
# ./configure

if configure fails some dev-packeges are missing - try to google them or just try #sudo apt-get install [name]
while entering name try the tab key, to get available suggestions.
than rerun #./configure

if okay
# make

if somthing fails: same game as above
if this is okay:
# sudo make install

/*or you can skip install, and start ktorrent out of this directory, to try it prior install*/

'make install' has to be performed so that plugins could be installed. Without this, you would be using new KTorrent engine with old plugins which could cause many weirdness to happen.
