mmap

Thu Nov 23, 2006 10:45 pm
Hello!

I'm running Ubuntu Dapper and Ktorrent 2.0.3 and getting slow downloads although all ports are open. Not knowing what is holding my downloads back I turned on logging and found that a certain message keeps repeting itself yet I do not know what does it mean or does it have anything to do with my speed. Please elaborate what is this:
"Warning : mmap failed, falling back to buffered mode"

Thank you!

This has nothing to do with download speed, it is just a fallback mechanism when parts of the files cannot not be mapped into memory. What kind of filesystem are you using ?

For the speed issues, I would upgrade to the beta.

I am using EXT3. I do not think that the version of Ktorrent is an issue because it downloaded fine and then all of a sudden it droped to 0.something at 50 something peers. The log shows that there are some problems with trackers although I have DHT enabled. I'll figure something out. Thank you for the response.
