cvs/svn

Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:33 pm
From the faq:
How do I get the latest code, and how do I compile it ?

You will need to install subversion. To get the code do this :
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/ex ... k/ktorrent
cd ktorrent
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/branches ... mon/admin/
svn cat svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/ex ... kefile.cvs > Makefile.cvs

To compile it :
make -f Makefile.cvs
./configure
make

Ive never used this svn thingy before and dont really know what it is or does. Is it just the same as downloading the latest version from the downloads page? And am I supposed to do 'make install' like if I was installing it from source? Also do I need to remove the previous version before I do make or make install?
Thanks

No, what you get is the latest version of the code, not the latest released version.

Yes, this is still installing from source, except now you have the really latest version of the source code.

Also do I need to remove the previous version before I do make or make install?
Thanks

That would be best, you don't want to have old versions of plugins and libktorrent lying around, it can lead to strange things.
