ktorrent uploads

Wed Dec 20, 2006 11:57 am
i had downloaded a file on my windows HDD.now i use ubuntu and hv ktorrent installed.
i hv to seed tht file nw.i downloaded d torrent frm tht website, copied d complete file into my linux drive and started a new torrent.but instead of performing hash check for the downloaded chunks it directly starts downloading again.it does nt upload.also dis way if a file si partially downloaded and d torrent is removed by chance and a new torrent task is created it should check for the downloaded chunks and then start downloading remaning parts.dis is d only drawback i can c in ktorrent.
i actually liked it for its damn easy to use.

The data needs to be on the proper location, and they need to be named properly, otherwise KT will not find them.

If they are not on the download location, you will need to move them or you can use the import plugin to import them.

So what is your default save location ? And where did you put the data ?

Also, make sure ktorrent has read/write permissions on the files in question. I know that is probably the easiest to have issue on Kubuntu, whose only difference is using KDE instead of Gnome.

I use bittorrent to download (until 2.1 ;-)) and ktorrent for upload. In both prgrams i've the same directory to save the downloaded files.

Once bittorrent finishes, close it, and open ktorrent. I suppose, that, setting the same folder for the temp files would make the same.

And, I don't change the file name, until i stop uploading.

@jdm:

Is there any way you could write "proper" english? I have troubles understanding your posts, and I think other people have too as well.

OK, what did you chose for the destination folder ? Because if the toplevel directory of the torrent is named foobar and the directory where you save the downloads is /home/jdm/downloads, ktorrent will look for /home/jdm/downloads/foobar

So if you selected /home/jdm/downloads/foobar it will not find the files.

Hi,

I have problem to continue already downloaded files, after reinstall of my full system.
When I choose 'import existing download', I give him the torrent and the already downloaded file path and after this there is two result:
1. or give me message that permission denied on /.kde/apps/ktorrent/tor8/---.avi
2. or take it to upload window but with zero size, zero everythink, only the file name is there. The status is 'seeding'.

For the 1st point I must say that I chown-ed of course the folder by root. - but it wasn't necessery because it owned by the user who started running ktorrent.

What can I do to continue seeding?
Thanks.

PS. I tried with different folders to move the .avi and the .torrent but dont change anythink. Originally I downloaded to me /home folder and sometimes to /mnt/--- and it worked well, to seeding from different folders.
Other info: debian sid, xfce, ktorrent 2.0.3 using kde 3.5.5
