I have a big problem with bittorrent programs, including Ktorrent. It all started like 10 days ago when I upgraded from Ubuntu 6.06 to 6.10. After a while, sometimes hours, sometimes days, Ktorrent locks up. This happened to the Deluge bittorrent client too. This doesn't only happen in Ubuntu 6.10, but also when In Kubuntu 6.10 (clean reinstall), which I'm using right now. When it locks up it disappears from the system tray, and the main window goes gray. I can force close it, but I'm unable to start it again without restarting the whole computer. Kind of annoying having to do that several times per day :p When it locks up I can still use other programs, like firefox, kopete, and such. The things that don't work are like accessing my external disk with konqueror, or starting system settings-->Disk and Filesystems.
Oh yea, forgot to say I'm using ktorrent_2.1~beta1+r613691~6.10prevu1_i386.deb right now, but this happened with the preinstalled client in Kubuntu too, and also in Ubuntu 6.10 when I downloaded it. (No idea what version though) Any idea what the problem is? Does it have anything to do with the external disk I download to? Any idea how to solve this, or find out what's wrong? Do I have to go back to Ubuntu 6.06 and hope it works again? Can it have anything to do with the number of active torrents? Right now I have about 13 active, but I'm pretty sure it locked up with fewer too. Apart from my problem, thanks for a great client! ![]() /Trinitron |

And if you do not download to your external disk, does it happen to ?
The fact that you can no longer access that disk in konqueror is a big sign that it probably has to do with the disk, or the way the kernel handles the disk. When this happens, you should try unmounting the disk and then mounting it again. |

I've tried unmounting and mounting again, but it doesn't work. Yea, the disk might be the problem, I guess I'll have to try downloading to another disk and see what happens. Thanks for your quick answer, lets hope it's as easy as the disk is the problem. ![]() /Trinitron |
