crash/backtrace dialog

Sat Dec 23, 2006 12:08 am
Hi all,

I leave ktorrent running 7/24, and every few days it crashes (no big deal). I have a script which checks every few minutes to see whether it is running, and, if not, it restarts it.

The problem is, at least under Fedora, that when ktorrent crashes the KDE backtrace dialog gets displayed, and ktorrent doesn't actually exit until I press OK. Hence the program hangs in a crashed state until I happen to notice.

Is there any way to disable the backtrace dialog so that my script can automatically restart ktorrent?

FWIW, I am running ktorrent under Gnome, and I am not very familiar with how KDE works.

Thanks.

Use the --nocrashhandler option

Note: what version are you running ? And if it crashes, we would like to see some backtraces.

Up until several days ago, I was running v2.0.3. I am now running v2.1beta1 with the hope (only partially realized) of being able to use the web interface plugin.

I would be happy to give you backtraces, but the ones I get tend to look like this:

Code: Select all
This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

Do I need to recompile with some kind of "--debugging enabled" flag?

Reconfigure with:

./configure --enable-debug=full
