"error: too many files open"

... does that imply that my queue is too long, when some torrents are stopped because of that error?

It means that you have to many files open, the operating system will impose a limit on the maximum number of files. (Network connections are also counted as files)

You can up the limit if you want with ulimit.

After 2.1, I'm gonna make ktorrent work around the limit.
