myriad of problems (2.1rc1)

i wanted to switch to ktorrent from azureus because az is a resource hog. however, i have plenty of problems.

firstly, i get a crash at least twice a day and have to start it manually. i'm running ubuntu dapper and i'm not sure what window system i'm using that allows this kde app to run but i don't get a crash dialog so i don't know how to find the backtrace.

secondly, i've got this stalled problem on one of my torrents. i searched the form for a while and noticed that many people have the stalled problem but no one is really posting solutions. the torrent works just great using azureus. i have all my ports forwarded but no luck.

can anyone suggest a better linux torrent app?

First, does announcing to the tracker work (i.e. is the tracker status OK) ?

Also posting the log file could be helpfull. You can find it here :

~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log

well it appears as though the stall was warranted. oops.

i'll grab and post the log when it crashes again.

the log is huge so i grabbed the last few lines. i'm not really sure what to look for so let me know if you need more. i've got about 20 torrents that are just seeding. most are eps and albums (20 mb - 450 mb) and one bigger torrent (4.5 gb). i have both encryption settings on as i heard that helps the speed. dunno what other info will help.

i basically get the crash at least once a day....but more like twice a day. it could be more often but i don't really know because i only check that often.

by the way, wouldn't it be more helpful to have timestamps in the log?

About those crashes, could you post a backtrace? That should help...

Can you provide a log with only the problem torrent running for a minute or 5 ?

there a guide somewhere that i don't know about?

how do i find out which is the problem torrent? trial and error? probably not gonna happen if that's the only way.

ok well i discovered the problem torrent. it is the big one (4.48 GB) compared to all my other torrents which average 100 MB or so.

The download starts without any problems, though it took some time for somebody to unchoke me, and the download speed I'm getting is not that great. But it runs.
