Ktorrent won't upload

Mon Feb 26, 2007 1:20 pm
Hi- I have a problem with ktorrent- it downloads just fine when there are lots of seeds but it only uploads at about 0.3 kb/s which doesn't give me very good speeds on most torrents- is this some bug ? my upload speed limit is set at 25 kb/s I tried no limit same thing.

I increased the upload slots from the default "2" (?!!) to 5 but the upload speed is not improving and most peers are listed as "choked" :(

And on another torrent where most peers are not choked it uploads few kn and the goes again to 0 :|

I should mention that I scanned port 6881 from here http://www.pcflank.com/scanner1.htm and it was open

In the peers tab, there are two columns : upload slot and requests

The peers who have an upload slot, do they have something in the requests field ?

Heh- I reassigned that torrent to utorrent which seems to have some problems also getting the maximum upload speed but it certainly does much better than ktorrent's 0.3 kb/s :| I started a new one with ktorrent and it starts downloading chunks and can't seem to get far enough to finish them- oh looks like it just finished a chunk and started uploading-
for the peers with upload slots I have requests like this: 2/0; 2/2; 2/1; 3/2. Dunno what it means though- and the upload speed is erratic - goes to maybe over 10 kb/s the back to 0.3 even 0.1 then back up and so forth :|

I also run this script on the pc I run ktorrent:

iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 50003 -j ACCEPT
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 50003 -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.3:50003
#iptables -A FORWARD -p udp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 4444 -j ACCEPT
#iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p udp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 4444 -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.3:4444
iptables -A FORWARD -p udp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 50003 -j ACCEPT
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p udp -i eth0 -d 193.231.120.213 --dport 50003 -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.3:50003
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

But I don't see how that would affect ktorrent; btw the torrent I got left running in utorrent is not uploading very fast now at all either- 5 kb/s goes up down etc.

Is there a way I can test the upload speed ? cause it seems they just increased my local download cap to 5 MB/s (yay!) Is it possible at the same time they decreased my upload one ? :|

I did a test and looks like both my download and upload speed have been increased- the upload speed being 58 kb/s I don't get it. And that's not just locally.

Now I increased the limit in both utorrent and ktorrent- utorrent is doing about 40 kb/s, ktorrent goes between 0.1 and 9 :(
