DHT?

Tue Feb 27, 2007 4:43 am
Have good speeds so no complains, and all ports forwarded correctly etc, but in the peers section looking down the DHT tab, I have all red X's.
DHT info reports 64 nodes, 0 tasks

I can run uTorrent in wine and DHT is fine, also Azureus

Any ideas anyone?

edit: after further analysis I see occasional green ticks kick in, but mostly red X

µTorrent doesn't properly advertise support for DHT, but we ping them anyway, we try to ping all peers. So µTorrent peers will all show up as red crosses though most probably support it.

Azureus uses an incompatible DHT protocol, so they will also be red crosses.

So this is pretty normal, considering the marketshare of both clients.

I have had a discussion with some of the people who makes µtorrent and from what I can understand it seems that maybe there is a problem in KTorrent??

µtorrent thread http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=10655&p=2

No there is no problem with KT's DHT, it's µTorrent which doesn't turn on one stupid bit in the handshake

George, could you briefly explain why Ktorrent is not compatible with Azureus' DHT network? Also, can you explain the differences between Azureus' DHT and mainstream DHT networks?

It seems Azureus has over 1 million users on it's DHT network, and I never get over 75 on Ktorrent.

Also, since Azureus is opensource; is the DHT network in Azureus not easily able to be ported to Ktorrent (which I know is not in Java)?

Thanks.

Nah, ktorrent counts nodes while azureus counts users, big difference.
