test a forwarded port

Mon Mar 05, 2007 6:53 pm
with uTorrent, and I thought I remembered with kTorrent as well, there was a website you could visit where it would check a specific port to see if it was open. You guys know that website and how I might check my port xxxxx?

thanks a million.
drew

found it:

according to that website, the port I forwarded in my router and added to my firewall, is closed!

Is that website accurate?

Check your KTorrent log file, type this in console:

less ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log | grep Authentication

if you see some lines with (S) (like this: Authentication(S):) - then your ports are just fine. If not, then you probably didn't forward the port correctly.

Note: Let your KTorrent run for some time before checking log file, 'cause looking at the empty file won't give you expected results :)
