Can't turn DHT on

Sun Mar 11, 2007 4:28 am
I'm about to go insane. I was using 2.1.1 before and I had DHT on. I upgraded to 2.1.2, when I started the program, I saw that DHT was off. I went to configuration menu but I just can't find the option to turn DHT on! I remember it was in "Preferences" section, but I can't see it there. Any help is appreciated. Running opensuse 10.2 with KDE 3.5.6.

This is amazing! How the hell did DHT disappear from this tab???

Could you post the content of the following file?

$HOME/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc

Post only [downloads] section or just bump the whole file if you can't find it.

as i can see, comparing your and mine prorgram settings, they're quiet different
there is a "dhtsupport=true" line in mine

perhaps your upgrade in version 2.1.2 wasn't succesfull !
can you check if ktorrent reports the right version ?
I'm not familiar enough with linux, yet, but if i were you i would do another installation with a rpm from here :
http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-nav ... k/ktorrent

p.s.
I'm a linux newbie and I run openSuSE v10.2 with KDE 3.5.5

I have that same line myself... The program works fine, and the version is listed as 2.1.2
It is really weird that an option would disappear like that.

Really weird indeed.

Say, your config file shows DHT is turned on do you see DHT status in KTorrent statusbar?

In the bottom line it says: DHT: off if that's what you mean. Do you suggest that I uninstall it and do a clean install? This seems to be a bug on the coding level.

Try that. Do a full uninstall then clean the code (best would be to delete directory where you compiled and extract the source package into new directory) and install again.

It's SUSE, you see for legal reasons official SUSE packages have DHT disabled, and you can't enable it.

You have two options :
- compile from source
- find a package for SUSE where DHT isn't disabled

George you should have replied earlier, I was damn confused about this one... :)
Guess I'll have to read posts with more attention so that I don't miss relevant info such as "I'm running opensuse"
