My ISP seems to detect and limit bittorrent on any port I use- I can only get good speeds (anything above 10 kb/s) by enabling protocol encryption- do they search for bittorrent on every port ? I tried using 50xxx 60xxx and 30xxx nothing works. In the peers tab- that lock means that peer is using protocol encryption ?

Yes, the lock denotes protocol encryption.

Your ISP might be using deep packet inspection to track bittorrent traffic - changing ports won't help in that case.

And I was blaming ktorrent all this time- I found some forum posts about this- looks like they started doing it after increasing the speed.

I wish protocol encryption was enabled by default on all torrent clients so I had more seeds/peers.
