open ktorrent with ssh

Sat Mar 24, 2007 11:04 am
Im trying to open ktorrent (a recent svn) using putty on a winxp pc. When I cd to the directory and type ./ktorrent however I get this message:
Code: Select all
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Can't determine DISPLAY. Aborting.

Is there any way I can open it (from a different country)?

You need to run an X server on your XP box and you need to turn on X-11 forwarding for the SSH connection. (Don't know where you need to do this in putty)

For the X server on windows you can try cygwin (make sure you select the X packages during the install).

If you are running a graphical server (X-server) on that computer already, you could try running "DISPLAY=0 ktorrent".
