hi all,
I tried using the inbuilt ipblocking Filter in which it goes to bluetack.co.uk & downloads level1. While it downloads the thing, when it comes to convert it takes hell lot of time to convert. Hence I tried both the methods when I could its inherent way of doing things & when I tried to do it my way, both times ending in failure. I cut/moved level from /home/shirish/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/level1.gz to /home/shirish but tht didn´t work. Then I downloaded pipfilter.dat from bluetack.co.uk & as ktorrent says it understands .zip I tried to convert tht but even tht does not work. Even there it shows as bad filter file. The log at /home/shirish/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent does not show any record of any of these actions of trying to put the filter in there. The log needs to be vertbose. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong. I downloaded both the files using firefox inbuilt downloader and till date it has not failed me. Please let me know if its something from my side or something wrong with ktorrent. Thnx in advance. |

Converting time has been reduced and this fix will be included in the next release.
As for your problem, you have to let KT convert the file otherwise it won't work. Now, delete all files related to ipfilter from ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent, then point KT ipfilter field to http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip click Download/Convert, answer 'yes' to all questions (if any), sit back and relax while KT downloads and converts the file. If it fails for whatever reason, post relevant log messages here. |

Something's really wrong there. What version are you running? You obviously have KDE 3.5.6 but KT has a different version number.
It should normally take 15-30 secs (2-3 minutes before converting fix). Stupid question, but did you click on 'convert'? Log file is at ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log |

Oops sorry about that. 3.5.1 is indeed the KDE version. 2.1 is the KT version.
Anyways, I tried to download and convert again today. I don't know what changed but it worked fine this time. It did download a new file. Maybe the previous file got corrupted somehow. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything helpful about my previous problems in the log either: Bound to port 49155 DHT: Starting on port 6881 DHT: Loading bucket 0 DHT: Loading bucket 1 DHT: Loading bucket 2 DHT: Loading bucket 3 DHT: Loading bucket 4 DHT: Loading bucket 5 DHT: Loading bucket 6 DHT: Loading bucket 7 DHT: Loading bucket 8 DHT: Loading bucket 9 DHT: Loading bucket 10 DHT: Loading bucket 11 DHT: Loading bucket 12 DHT: Loading bucket 13 DHT: Loading bucket 14 DHT: Loading bucket 15 DHT: Loading bucket 17 Loading plugin searchplugin Loading plugin infowidgetplugin Loading plugin ipfilterplugin Anti-p2p file not loaded. Using the 2.1.4 ktorrent on Ubuntu feisty & tried to download & convert the file. But the bar is not moving. Lemme state I'm using xubuntu & went through the offical route through the repos. Also look at this :-
The log is in the same place instead of being in different directory & there is no mention of the plugin filter :/ |

I have a p4 1.8 ghz machine with 628 MB DDR RAM & its been more than 5 minutes without the bar moving to even 1%. Can anybody guide me as to what is wrong & which logs do I need to submit so people can find out.

The URL used for IPfilter download is http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip
The progress bar doesn't progress to even 1% ![]() |

I have the same problem.
OS: Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty KTorrent about window reports: KTorrent 2.1 (Using KDE 3.5.6) From the preference window, IPBlocking Filter, I click on Download/Convert button (IP filter file is set to http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip). A Download window pops up and starts downloading the file. After the download is completed, the "Converting" window pops up. I click on Convert button, the status text changes to "Loading txt file..." and nothing happens (the progress bar doesn't move, keeps on 0% and the CPU is not used). The log file:
So it complains that Cannot find level1 file. I go to "/home/mcq/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent" and there is the file level1 (1.8 MB zip file, the one from http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip). Ok, no problem. I did this: 1. manual download http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip 2. extract splist.txt from it 3. set "IP filter file" to point to this file (so this one before was http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip and now I set it up to /home/mcq/splist.txt) 4. click on Download/Convert button 5. "Converting" window pops up and I click on Convert button 6. after about 3-5 minutes the convert process is complete 7. if I look into /home/mcq/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent, there are 3 new files: * level1 (6.2 MB) * level1.dat (1.4 MB) * level1.txt (6.2 MB) Files level1 and level1.txt are the same as splist.txt and level1.dat is not a text file. Question: What do I do now? How do I know if the list is used? I restart KTorrent, I look into IP filter window (click on the icon IPFilter and a window with title KTorrent Blacklist appears) but there I see the default entries: 0.0.0.0 3.*.*.* and that's it. I click on Open button and select file "level1.dat", after I click Open KTorrent "becomes busy" for 1-2 seconds and then the KTorrent Blacklist is empty. Log file:
Same happens if I select file splist.txt (the only difference is that ktorrent is "more busy" like 3-5 seconds). Let me know if I can provide more info for this issue. |
