THe following odd problem: I have ktorrent set so that it minimizes it into the tray, when I close it. This works well most of the time. However sometimes (for reasons that are not clear to me) it disappears. There is a spot/space in the tray, but no ktorrent icon and I am unable to bring ktorrent back into the foreground (not via alt-tab, and wmctrl -l doesn't show it either). The proces is still running (ps), the conections are still open (netstat), and there's still plenty of bandwidth being used up and down - in fact I wait until down-bandwidth drops to zero before I kill and restart ktorrent, and indeed the torrents are usually finished then.
I run a relatively standard Ubuntu edgy Gnome desktop. Another potentially related glitch: Sometimes the icon is not in the tray but at seemingly random places on the desktop (usually on the left side, and more often towards the upper corner than in the middle). The "workaround" of killing and then restarting ktorrent usually works, that is, then it appears in the correct place and I can bring the window back as often as I like. I am using the edgy backports (ktorrent 2.1.4 currently). It could potentially be a kde issue as well (I think I observed this with amarok as well, but I don't use it nearly as often as ktorrent). Does anybody have suggestions on how I can start troubleshooting? Thanks. |
