I just installed Ktorrent and want to try it out. I have never been in touch with such programs and p2p networks before, so I have absolutely no idea how should I start.

I would like to simple task with ktorrent, like downloading small animation movie from the free torrent site. Does anyone know a simple guide to do that, or could anyone explain just shortly how can it be done?

You just download a torrent file and open it with ktorrent.

You could use ktorrent's search plugin to search for torrent files.

what is torrent file? where should I search it? do I not need registration/login formalities to access certaing torrent network?

Some trackers/sites are private, but there are many freely available free sites, like isohunt.com or torrentspy.com. They host those so-called torrent files. Go there and have a look, it's all really simple.
