Hi all,
I'm a recent convert to linux. I've been using bit torrents on XP (numerous clients) for a long time now. My problem is that I don't seem to be able to seed anything. I can download quickly, but my upload is always at zero, except if I'm downloading, then I might upload 1K a second (though usually less). I suspect that this is just ktorrent communicating my outgoing messaging to other peers and not bytes from the files themselves. Anyway, I've opened my ports and verified them using external sources. I enabled UPnP on my router (netgear WGR614 v4) and then scanned it using the UPnP plugin. It found my router and I told it to forward the ports. There was no change. It is theoretically possible that there are no peers who need the files I am seeding, but if I go into windows the files attract consumers/peers. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. |

I see maybe a dozen or more, but they all connect, get a byte or two, and disconnect. If I'm seeding, say, erm, a public domain video of congress in session *ahem* and it's 700MB, give or take, and, for some odd reason there are 60 peers out there who are still attempting to acquire this, erm, session of congress, I'll see them just connect, get a handful of bytes, disconnect, repeat.
I've been in this community of, uh, politically engaged people for a long time (two or three years now) and whenever I have an especially popular... session of testimony, my upload speed hits the roof. I switched to ubuntu recently and ktorrent is awesome, but my ratio has hit the floor. I'm lucky to upload 100K in a day. TIA |
