I've downloaded about 50% of a file on one computer on my network and 50% of the same file on another computer on the network.
I've enabled the zeroconf plugin but dont really know what to expect from it. Is is possible for me to merge these two downloads? I'm sure they have a certain amount of commonality so that I will not end up with 100% of the file, but anything I can shave off the 22 day ETA would be great. |

Once you get those connected with zeroconf, they should merge their data pretty quickly. The download order is random, so one is bound to have chunks the other one doesn't have.
You can even connect them manually (right click on torrent -> Add Peers -> fill in IP address and port) |

Thanks George. That didn't work for me for some reason. There was no new activity at all after enabling the plugin, and I left the machines running for nearly an hour.
I found a HOWTO here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KTorrent which explains how to use the partfileimportplugin. The only problem is that I need two things here, the downloaded data and the torrent. I have the data and I downloaded the original .torrent file. But after it reads the data it says something along the lines that I am already downloading this and that the list of trackers has been merged. But it doesn't take my data. Any ideas? |
