It wants the location of the PHP binary. I have installed php5-cli and php5-cgi, and have PHP installed for Apache. I still don't have a /usr/bin/php.

Help?

Nothing is in that directory.
/usr/local/bin is where things go when you compile them from source and then make install as root with no --prefix=.

Type this in a konsole :

which php

That will give you the full path of the php executable.

Btw, in ubuntu all binaries are normally installed in /usr/bin, so you probably already have the right path.

I did this yesterday. I now have a /usr/bin/php, but I get a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to log in.

For the record:

HTTP/1.1 Internal Server Error
Failed to launch PHP executable !

Is what I see on the page.

Meanwhile I can "which php" and it shows me where it is, and typing "php" on the command line appears to launch php just fine.

Now what?

Check the log file (~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log).

Look for lines like this :
Failed to open /some/file.php

If you see something like this, then the root path is wrong for some reason.

Here's the solution:

In a console type:
which php4
You should get /usr/bin/php4
Then open settings|preferences|webinterface
In the box labeled "PhP executable path" type in "/usr/bin/php4"
Set your prefered username, and a password, (albeit one different from your linux login).
Click on ok, then open a browser to http://localhost:8080 and log in.

Enjoy! :D

I only installed php5-cli (which pulled php5-common) and pointed the web gui plugin to /usr/bin/php. That's where it ended up for me, on Kubuntu 8.04.1 x86.
