previously i use azureus but after discovering ktorrent i never look back.

lately i encountered some downloading problem with version 2.2.1. not sure if this is torrent specific or a client issue. upload is ok, previous torrents are also ok.

the download rate would slow down including number of seeder and leecher until the status turn to stalled. the torrent is healthy based on the number of seeders and leechers.

the download rate would turn up if the Manual Announce is activated. is there a way to modify or shorten the Next Update In value under the Status tab (Info Widget)?

btw my internet connection is firewalled by my isp so there is no incoming connection to my client but still i'm able to get good download and upload performance on other torrent.

There is an automatic announce when a download is stalled for more then 2 minutes, (but not for private torrents)

I'm thinking this is a private torrent. If you are firewalled, with a normal torrent, peer exchange will compensate this. Other clients will keep you informed about all the peers they are connected to, so you can contact them yourself.

For a private torrent, peer exchange is not allowed, so your only source of peers is the tracker. Seeing that you cannot receive incoming connections, you only get an idea of the swarm, every tracker announce.

Between 2 tracker announces a swarm can change a lot, peers will leave the swarm and new peers will join.

Because peers leave the swarm, you will lose connections. Without peer exchange you don't know about the new peers, so you cannot make new connections until the next tracker announce.
