Not using KDE

Sat Sep 08, 2007 2:28 am
Hi,

Is it possible to run KTorrent without running the full KDE?

I tried to run it on a headless minimal X server (spawn by vncserver), using xfwm as the windows manager, but the KTorrent GUI fails to show up, though the backend runs fine. This are the errors I got:

Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display ":1.0".
Failed to get list of devices
kbuildsycoca running...
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display ":1.0".
Qt: Warning: Failed to get list of devices
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display ":1.0".
Failed to get list of devices

If I do a startkde first, I still get this errors, but KTorrent works fine. Can I selectively start some KDE services and have KTorrent GUI work without the running the full KDE ?

I am running Kubuntu 7.04 and the KTorrent 2.2.1 deb downloaded from ktorrent.org.

Thanks,
mark

It should start up without any problems. Does this also happens with other KDE applications ?

Konsole, Kate and Konqueror all work fine, but they also emit those same warnings. On the 1st run, ktorrent spawns a dialog box which quickly disappears then proceeds to run in the background without the GUI. It is too fast, I couldn't catch what that dialog box is about at all.
