Try adding that directory to the $KDEDIRS environment variable, then run kbuildsycoca and start KT

gentoo w/ktorrent-2.2.4

Sat Jan 12, 2008 9:09 am
Greetings!

I am having similar troubles. I just rebuilt my server & so recompiled gentoo & all my other stuff.
I started using ktorrent back with version 2.0.something. With that build, I had all the plugins correct & used many of them. I later upgraded to 2.2.x, ending with 2.2.4 shortly before upgrading my hardware. All the required plugins do seem to reside in (for me) /usr/lib/kde3/ , but exporting KDEDIRS & running kbuildsycoca didn't seem to fix it. I'm afraid I am rather at a loss as to why on this new setup, Ktorrent can no longer find those plugins :/. Any assistance is much appreciated.

The service type KTorrent/Plugin is defined in a desktop file named ktorrentplugin.desktop, which in your case should be in /usr/lib/kde3/share/servicetypes. Check if that file exists, if it doesn't then something went wrong with the install.

Thanks for the info.
Some re-linking & restarting KDE seemed to fix things.
Now we'll see if KDE4 likes it..... :p
but I'll experiment with that on my desktop, not the server :p
