My ISP just changed things on me so that I have to use a proxy. I've set the proxy in kcontrol, and ktorrent lists the 'seeders' and 'leechers' for each of the torrents that were in progress before, but there are no peers available for any of them (that can't be right).
What might I be missing? |

Yes, sorry, I should have given more information, but didn't understand enough at the time to do so. Currently, I believe that my thinking my ISP was now requiring a proxy is misunderstanding on my part and that my problem with ktorrent is really related in some way to a problem with KDE or SuSE settings.
This all began when I was suddenly unable to connect to any website from Firefox. Restarting Firefox, then reloging into KDE, then restarting my computer failed to solve the problem. I am on HughesNet satellite internet (which is always problematic) so after restarting my modem and doing all of these other things in various sequences over several hours, I finally called HughesNet tech support. The tech immediately suggested setting up an HTTP proxy to the modem (which is 192.168.0.1) which proved necessary for internet access in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Konqueror (Kcontrol, Internet & Network, Proxy, Manually specify the proxy settings, HTTP: 192.168.0.1), and finally in Opera. This gave me browser access, but left me with the situation, described above, where though Ktorrent sees the Peers out there, none connect either up or down. I'm pretty sure the problem is with my system. Though initially, using another DE seemed to allow internet access using 'direct connect', that situation changed and I could again only get access the internet through proxy. Any suggestions would surely be appreciated, but I think my problem is really outside the scope of this forum. ![]() |
