I just saw a really strange group of leechers on a torrent I am seeding. The tracker showed that there was only one leecher on the torrent , and I did not have a connection to that peer. However, I did have 5 connections to a 5 different peers that all had an IP of 74.X.Y.Z. (Which are coincidently all from users with my ISP) I was uploading to all 5 connections at the same speed, all were unencrypted, and all were the same % complete. I caught the peer at 90% and it only took a few minutes to finish but they all disappeared as soon as one hit 100%. Has anyone else seen anything like this? I have no idea what is going on.
Could anyone shine some light on what happened here? Was this just a glitch or is this something I should be concerned about? I don't have DHT disabled and the torrent was set for private, so DHT shouldn't have accessed it anyways, even if it was enabled. |

Just an FYI to this post -- I realize it is an older posting: Trackers do not always show absolute current stats of seeders/leechers -- This can be due to slow update intervals that the tracker uses to display seed/leech information or if the tracker is under a heavy user load -- And usually a combination of the two. I have found many seemingly dead torrents that are in fact very much alive that on the tracker shows no seeders/leechers but when attaching to the torrent there is a bountiful number of seeders/leechers. Sometimes it takes five minutes to find them, but more often than not I have found success in having patience while the torrent connects. I would not wait much longer than five minutes though ... |

Looking at the block list I have on my disk, it seems that a whole bunch of IP addresses starting with 38.100 are in it.
So you have just been caught by the copyright police, please put your hands in the air, and wait for an elite RIAA/MPAA team of lawyers to kick down your frontdoor, and rob you of all your savings ![]() |
