Code: Select all
An error occured while loading the torrent. The torrent is probably corrupt or is not a torrent file.

/home/user/&i

Code: Select all
An error occured while loading the torrent. The torrent is probably corrupt or is not a torrent file.

/home/user/&m

What is happening? How to solve it?
My torrent still can download normally but these errors always appear.

I was getting this too. Somehow my torrent got corrupted between starting and stopping ktorrent. Only happened once and I wasn't able to reproduce it after deleting the torrent and starting over.

What you can do is delete the torrent (not the data) then download the torrent again (but don't load it into ktorrent yet)

Next load the Import Plugin in ktorrent

Then go to File -> Import
Select the newly downloaded torrent, and the old data file

that should fix the problem and continue the torrent where it left off.

ok, then I'd just delete /home/user/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/ and restart from there. you will probably have to reconfigure any options after deleting the directory.

The actual settings are kept in ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc

only thing I'd suggest from here is to uninstall and try to re-install with a different package. Maybe whoever put together the package you installed added a patch that isn't working properly

just thought I would bump this post--I keep getting the same error and have tried everything listed in the post.

I'm not running 'gimmie-panel', just plain old 'gnome-panel', so I don't think the error is there.

The error holds for every .torrent file I try, and only started recently, maybe when I updated to ubuntu 7.10.

The error seems to be not only specific to KTorrent, as BitTornado gives me an error ('bad bencode data'), Deluge just crashes, and Azureus gives a 'file not found' error and then crashes.

Here is the error message again:

'An error occurred while loading the torrent. The torrent is probably corrupt or is not a torrent file.

/home/jon/Desktop/RAQ 2007-11-02.torrent'

I also am getting this error. I don't even have any torrents loaded. I've reinstalled, deleted everything in .kde/ and i still get the error. the top of the error boxes read %c and so does the top of the ktorrent window itself.
