History goes something like this:
Ktorrent was installed with all the rest of the KDE desktop environment, when OpenSuse 10.2 was installed. Ktorrent worked at that time, as intended. There was a Suse update for Ktorrent, which again worked. I stumbled over a link to Ktorrent's site, discovered that there was a newer and better version available, so I downloaded and installed it from the tar.gz. Somehow, the windows settings got diddled with. When I opened Ktorrent, it was oversized, and I had to scroll sideways to find everything. No big problem, and I should probably have left things alone. I clicked the restore button on Ktorrent's window, the window then fit the desktop (1024 x 768 on an LCD screen) However, I lost the scroll buttons on the bottom portion of the window, where trackers, swarm, and all the other good stuff resides. This was wierd, so I played around with it, trying to discover what happened. Coudn't figure it out, so I used Yast to reinstall the (slightly) older version, and things got worse. That bottom pane was now to big to fit on the desktop, the bottom was lost somewhere off the screen. Worse, I couldn't scroll in that pane, nor would the desktop scroll down to the bottom of that pane. It's just lost. Checked Yast one more time, and found that the Packman repository has the latest and greatest version of Ktorrent available, so I installed from Packman. Same problem. That bottom pane was lost somewhere in the fifth dimension. Since then, I've played with the window settings, resizing the window, using special settings for the window, forcing the window to fit the screen, and/or forcing various size settings on the window - all to no avail. That bottom pane insists on being to long to fit in any window, and lacking the scroll buttons that used to be there, I cannot view the information contained within the pane. Once I have chosen to view one or another set of data (such as the swarm), I am unable to view any other, since those buttons are located at the bottom of the pane. At this point, I am considering allowing all downloads to complete, then uninstall Ktorrent completely. Then, a fresh installation will hopefully fix the problem. UNLESS, of course, someone here can tell me what I've done wrong, or how to fix the problem. (I have a screenshot, but see no options to post images or attachments on the posting page.) |
