I am using KTorrent on two PCLinusOS computers. They are both downloading at about 50-200 KB/s and uploading at around 5-10 KB/s. I have a cable modem with speeds of 8 Mb/s download and 800 Kb/s. I should not be saturating my cable modem at all.
My problem is that once I've run ktorrent for awhile, my network goes to a crawl, or not at all. Not for ktorrent though, it chugs along in the background with no issues. My problem is trying to access the internet with a browser, or even trying to make contact with my router. It either times out or takes 5 minutes or more for a page to load. My only solution is to quit ktorrent, but even this does not work most times, I end up rebooting my router in order to make things work normally again. I looked at the security log and I find that my router is denying access, due to DOS, about 20-40 different attempts every minute! This was not normal before starting to use ktorrent. Any thoughts on this problem? Keith |

Ok, I did some digging and this seems to be a common problem. One fix appears to be to try and add my DNS IP to the /etc/resolv.conf file. I'm going to try that when I get home and see what happens.
