large torrents - incomplete data

Sun Oct 14, 2007 2:22 am
I've been using ktorrent (2.2.2 on pclinuxos, repo package) solidly for about the last month. I'd been grabbing old tveps and had noticed that certain spots in the avis would cause crashes in mplayer and kaffeine, after doing data re-checks in ktorrent I put this down to just being old, bad rips.

After reinstalling pclinux today I put azureus back on and loaded the relevant torrents to do re-checks. Azureus showed all the problematic avis as having 97-99.8% completion rate rather than the 100% displayed in Ktorrent. After completing the downloads in azureus, the affected files now play without error.

I have had no problems with any single avi torrents in ktorrent, this has only been happening with large multiple avi torrents. I haven't posted this in the devel forum since I haven't got any diagnostics to back it up, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. Running XFS on all partitions.

stargate SG1 S10 http://www.mininova.org/get/630874

When you do an integrity check after its finished downloading, it shows that its all there. But if you delete the torrent and download it again the hash check shows that chunks are missing as shudde says.

Did you download all the files ? Or only just the avi's and not the text files ?

Hi George,

When i downloaded that torrent it was just the AVI's, when i redownloaded the torrent and it did the "integrity check" it showed all the avi's at less than 100%. I had to download another 50'ish MB, IIRC i redownloaded the torrent again and there was still some missing data.

I will try another torrent tonight and let you know how it goes.

Ok, this time i downloaded all the files, deleted the torrent & redownloaded it

Chunks found = 699
Chunks failed /Not downloaded = 0

Then i deleted the torrent, moved all the text files to a different folder, downloaded the torrent again

Chunks found = 675
Chunks failed /Not downloaded = 24

I guess i wont be deselecting any files from now on especially if its 4MB  chunks

Edit: **** that, i won't be re-adding the torrent if i accidentally delete it
