Help with TED and ktorrent

Mon Oct 29, 2007 4:17 pm
I am wondering if there is a way to stop ktorrent from prompting on where to save the file(s) associated with a torrent. I have ktorrent running on Ubuntu 7.10 with TED (torrent episode downloader). When TED grabs a torrent and tries to load it in ktorrent a dialog box opens waiting for input from me the user. Is there anyway to stop this activity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Enable scanfolder plugin> setup your folders> enable option load torrents silently.

Alternatively you can use dcop, when KT is running type this in a shell :

dcop ktorrent KTorrent openTorrentSilently <url or path of torrent>

You can have TED call that, and it should work.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I decided to use the Scanfolder plugin in silent mode (and it works very well). I am interested in learning more about DCOP, but right now I am running Ubuntu and it sounds like a Kubuntu command (from my preliminary reading). Thank you again for the very quick help and keep up the great work on the software.

Cheers

dcop is part of KDE, so you might need to install some extra KDE packages.
