Ever since I installed the kTorrent on my computer, it randomly shuts down. It's like you'd pull the power cable off. I never noticed any warning of any kind before it happens.
I use Kubuntu Gutsy and kTorrent is 2.2.1

Does anyone have similar issue?

KT hasn't got a shutdown the computer feature.

Maybe your processor is overheating ?

I seriously doubt it. It never shuts down only when I'm running kTorrent. Yesterday it did shut down two times and I after I left to bed, I left it running.
In the morning it was off again.
Then it ran the whole day today without glitch. Weird.
I was thinking if there isn't something like was in windows - the infamous "ping of death" when someone remotely give you a little taste of bsod...
I don't know. I'm not a complete noob, but have much more experience with windows to tell the truth.

No, KTorrent cannot suddenly shut off the computer, and a vulnerability in KTorrent cannot cause this either. Your system is most likely suffering a hardware issue.

I recomend loading sensors, starting ksensor, ksysguard and ktorrent and monitor what's really happening. ktorrent really loads my cpu which makes heat so the marginal cpu fan could push it over the edge; the same with a glitchy powersupply. tail /var/log/everything.log or /var/log/error.log might give a clue or two also.

Try letting it run with "cpuburn" for a day/night, without ktorrent, and see if it still shutdown. Then you'll know if it is a hardware issue.
