DHT & Private Torrents

Thu Nov 08, 2007 3:39 am
Hello,

Is DHT used for torrents marked as private?

I today checked the peer list for a private torrent I was seeding, and noticed that there was a green tick in the DHT column. Does this mean that peer was obtained via DHT, or something completely different?

Thank-you!

No no, DHT is not used to obtain peers for private torrents. The DHT tickmark means during the handshake, KTorrent determined that the client is capable of DHT -- it is not using DHT on that torrent (though it may contact/ping that client's DHT port for building its nodes table)

i'm trying to find some documentations on google/forum/tgz package/tc.. about the option in ktorrent. but i haven't been very successful
I have few questions ?
-when i activate DHT, what is happening ? Do i use it for every single torrent or i have to look for specific once.
-when i use the ip thing ,is it just a mask ?
-etc...
could you point me toward a Doc that would explain in detail what i can expect .
Thank you .

btw very nice job with ktorrent .

You will only use it for torrents that don't have the private flag set inside the torrent file. The procedure is automated.

Unfortunately the doc is not done yet.
