Didn't know where else to post this.
I see a lot of people saying download speeds are poor, but I am in fact getting better download speeds with ktorrent under Linux than I did with utorrent in Windows. I have a 768/128 adsl connection with Verizon, and I'm consistently getting download speeds of 85KB/sec. That's just about the max for my connection. I can't speak for the faster connections, but I can tell you that for adsl the default connection settings in ktorrent are way too high. Here are mine: maximum downloads: 1 maximum seeds: 1 maximum connections per torrent: 55 global connection limit: 80 maximum upload rate: 9 maximum download rate: 90 TCP port: 51000 UDP tracker port: 52000 DHT: enabled UDP port for DHT: 53000 protocol encryption: enabled allow unencrypted connections: enabled I forwarded my three ports through my router, and everything works great. The thing to remember is that it can take up to 30 minutes for a torrent to get up to speed. I see a lot of folks make their settings then go back and change them again right away when they don't see immediate results. Your settings may in fact have been fine, but you didn't allow enough time. Hope this helps some people, Dig |
