hello.
i have an opensuse 10.3 box with ktorrent 2.4.4 installed from KDE:Backports. and this setup is suffering of sporadic and unpredictable crashes of ktorrent. it just dies leaving a core. so what is the best way to deal with such situation? to fill in request on bugs.kde.org or ask an opensuse community if it is openSUSE package failure? running `gdb `which ktorrent` core' didn't said a lot to me... |

With running gdb I believe it is actually
Then when it crashes you type in bt and post the output. Also this might be a problem with the package maker. Have you tried compiling 2.2.4 yourself? PS I assume you meant 2.2.4 which is the latest not 2.4.4 |

ok. this issue was cleared by rebooting my box (though i think that restaring of dbus and dbus-related stuff will suffice too).
i believe that it was caused by mismatch of running dbus (or its loaded libraries) with updated ktorrent. and now i've moved to ubuntu and ktorrent still working like a charm (despite large memory consumption and pretty high CPU load). nevertheless, what is the preferred way of debugging segfaults and other coredumps? i believe that it is `gdb binary core; where; bt'. am i mistaken? |
