Xorg high CPU usage

Tue Feb 26, 2008 6:06 am
On my new Debian system, Xorg puts an unusual load on CPU whenever KTorrent's main window is displayed, something in the 50-70% range.

Unloading all the plugins won't fix anything, but as soon as I minimize KT, Xorg soars down to 1% or less.

I'm using KTorrent 2.2.4, lenny x86_64, and the nv driver. Can you help?

What if you play around with the GUI update interval ?

I set that at 5s and also moved the CPU slider all the way to slow, KDE is still sluggish when the window is restored (it doesn't matter at all if the window is visible or covered by another one)

I unloaded all the plugins already. Could this be an nv driver problem?

I've used KT with no probs at all on this same machine months ago with a previous install of Debian lenny, but the closed source nvidia driver was still available at the time.

Ok, I can't change the video driver ATM so I had to switch to another torrent client, the problem is gone now. TY anyway.
